Censorship hurdles freedom of expression

Overcoming the hurdles of censorship is the huge challenge faced by the director in conveying his message to the audience was the general opinion of directors who participated in the press meet conducted as a part of the 8th IDSFFK. Unlike India all other countries especially Korea promotes the freedom of expression said the Korean filmmaker Jung Hyunkim, who made ‘Beautiful Grey’.
The reality can be much more truthfully expressed through documentaries rather than through academics said by Shabil Krishnan director of ‘Living the Green Dream’ while sharing the purpose of documentary in society.
Through his documentary ‘Going Home’, Niranjan Kumar Kujur made an attempt to rescue  the language from extinction due to the influence of other foreign languages like Bhojpuri and Hindi and he made use of his documentary to convey the message to the tribal communities in instigating a movement to protect the ‘Kudukh’ language.
Documentary is an in-dignified means to relive oneself. It is told through a collective outburst said Manish Sharma , director of Indefensible Space. Sharma depicted the tragic situation of public toilets in Dharavi.
 Play back is an experiment friendly and can be used in the upcoming music videos for exhibiting different emotions of the character said Sasha Singh.
Tanumoy Bose (Man and Ocean), Ramanathan Vaidyanathan (Earth Shit), Prachiti Khavte (Knots and Bonds), Abhilash Vijayan (Laage) was present at the press meet which was moderated by Kamal K M.
