Instilling a rich film viewing experience to its viewers, the 8th edition of IDSFFK reaches its final day today (30th June). The closing ceremony would be held at Kairali theatre at 6:00 P.M. V. S. Sivakumar (Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Devaswom), will be the chief guest of the ceremony. The programme is presided by K. Muraleedharan (M.L.A.) .Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan (Minister for Forest, Environment, Transport, Sports & Cinema) will distribute the awards. KSCA Chairman T. Rajiv Nath will declare the awards. Cultural Affairs Secretary, Rani George IAS, KSCA Vice Chairman Joshy Mathew, Secretary S Rajendran Nair, and other Executive Committee members will also take part in the function.
Prize money of Rs. 1 Lakh and certificates is awarded for best long fiction. Winners of best short documentary and best short fiction await an award sum of Rs. 50,000. The best music video and animation film will receive an award of Rs. 25,000. The award for the Best Cinematographer (a sum of Rs. 10,000) is granted by the famous cinematographer Navroze Contractor.

Films of Amith Dutta are featuring today under the ‘filmmaker in focus’ category. ‘Jangrah film-one’ plots the discovery of the film maker about an artist named Jangrah Singh Syam who had left his village to become a well-known contemporary painter. The second film ‘Venice Quote’ is a film about the famous Rudraveena Player, Bahauddin Dagar and a painter who fixes the image of the instrument. The director portrays the alchemy of cinema through their gathering. Amit Dutta’s distinctive style of film making is rooted in Indian aesthetic theories and personal symbolism resulting in images that are visually rich and acoustically stimulating can be clearly depicts in both films.
‘Nick and Chai’ directed by Cha Escala and Wena Sanchez is a film which depicts the desperate life of a parents who had lost their four children in a typhoon attack occurred in 2013. Film tries to explore the attempts of the parent Nick and Chai, to take a new step in the life after the tragic experience.
National award winning Independent filmmaker Sarmistha Maiti’s “She Creates to Conquer” is a film about three contemporary female visual artists exploring alternative art forms and mediums. It exhibits their attempt to cross the great gender divide that flows as a strong undercurrent in the world of visual arts in India. “Some Lives” directed by Dr. Biju Kumar Damodaran which is screening in Focus Short Documentary category , is a documentary on migrant and other homeless people who live in Kerala.
‘Sama – Bhava ‘directed by A.Mithran Arumugam is silent film which explains the similarity of pain faced between a boy and dog in 7 minutes.
“Rocks in My Pockets” featuring in festival focus amimation category directed by Singe Baumane is a story of mystery and redemption which depicts through an animated tale full of art , women ,strange daring stories, Latvian accents, history, nature, adventure and more.
