IDSFFK 2015- 59 films to screen today

The eighth International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) at Kairali, Nila and Sree Theatre enter its second day today (27/6/2015). The day will feature 59 films spanning across 8 categories. 32 competition Films across five sections will be screened.
Long documentary section will have 3 screenings. ‘The Hope doctors’ - by Diya Banarjee dealing with the issue of medical cloning, ‘Floating life’ by Haobam Paban Kumar  dealing with  the environmental issues faced by ‘ Loktak’  , the largest lake in North East India,‘On a quest’  by Prasanna R.S.  narrates the life of Hindu Spiritual  and founder of  Chinmaya mission Guru Swami Chinmayanada .
Short documentary section will screen a total of 10 Films ‘Ananya’ by Vaibhav Hiwase, ‘ Kansutra’  by Karan Dhar , ‘Halo’ by Amit Kumar , ‘Beyond barbed wires.A distant dawn’ by Rafeeq Elias , ‘Cotton dreams’ by  Sandeep Rampal Balhara, ‘Ankahee’ by Esha Katiyar, ‘Bombay 70’ by  Disha Rindani , ‘Vrithiyude Jaathi ’ by Vidhu Vincent , ‘Following the box by Anirban Mahapatra , and ‘Unveiled’ by Rishika Namdev .
The Film maker in focus session will include four films from Jammu Kashmir born Indian Film maker and Screen writer Amit Dutta. ‘Field Trip’- A documentary on the 18th century painter Nainsukh , ‘Chitrashala’  - a poetic retelling of King Nala and Damayanti, ’ Even red can be sad’ deals with the creative life of abstract painter Ram Kumar and  ‘Nainsukh’ a documentary on the genius of painter Nainsukh, will be sceened.
Festival focus section on the theme ‘Animation’ will screen two movies. ‘Alienation’ by Laura Lehmus and ‘Aubade’ by Mauro Carraro.
In addition, the daily press-meet will be held at Kairali Facade at 12:00 P.M. “Master Classes” which deals with different topics related to Documentary films will have its first session ‘Documentary:distribution,financing and pitching’ by Ari Allanson. The daily ‘Face to Face’ programme with Film makers will be held at Nila and Kairali theatre at 2:00 P.M and 5:00 P.M respectively. Sopanasangeetham by Ambalappuzha Vijayakumar will feature in “Kerala Pavilion”, a programme which features traditional art forms of Kerala, will be held at 6 P.M. on   Kairali theatre
40 other films in Music Videos, Campus films, Short fiction, and International categories will also be screened.
